Go Figure...

I am not a part of a small family. We have more than the "average" 1.86 children. Well more. And I am fiercely proud of my four boyz. But come on now!!!

I was out Christmas shopping with Daddy D and the little boyz last week. In line at the traffic light to leave the mall we spotted this SUV....

Seriously? We must put stick figures of ourselves, all EIGHT of our children and then our pets on our vehicles now? I must admit, a few years ago I contemplated a little stick figure ensemble. It was a fleeting moment of weakness. But never, even in those few minutes, did I contemplate monogramming all of our names underneath our stick figure selves. Not only does everybody and their uncle know our names, but while people are behind me in line at the mall they can contemplate our seemingly infinite depth of fertility.

These were my thoughts while examining this family portrait of sorts. First off, even after having four sons, like myself, they did keep going for that girl...and got her on baby #5. They had another little boy and then apparently twin girls to round out the eight. All their sons names start with A, and all of their daughters names start with S. Their dog must be a boy because the dog also had an A name. Not only that, but there is no possible way that there family of ten (minus their furry friend) were fitting in that vehicle all at one time!

While discussing this disturbing trend with Daddy D, most specifically the names, I suggested maybe they could have just used their first initials (if they must label them at all). To which Daddy D pointed out that that was not really an option. As the last three children are a boy and then two girls. An "A" and two "S"s. I guess he has a point.

LOL..a** would have been funny to see though. I agree, I would never put my childrens names on my car. Or their shirts, backpacks, ect..for that matter. I do not want strangers to know their names and act familiar with them. I rarely use their names in public while speaking to them...we use their nicknames. Have a wonderful holiday season :)

I have to say, this trend has always disturbed me. Mainly because this gives strangers (particularly very creepy strange demented strangers) info on your children. Imagine this: someone in a parking lot runs up to your kid and says their name and then says "it's an emergency, your mom (so-and-so) wants me to take you to (such-and-such a place)". Talk about giving perps ammunition! This is the one reason I would never ever do this. Aside from the fact it's tacky. But I love your husband's insight into the initials. That would just serve them right. ;)

OMGosh he so has a point there!!

I am quite proud of my 4 boys too, and I admit, I thought about it - but then I thought, well, anyone just has to look at our van and know our kids names, and kidnappers and molesters alike have an edge on getting MY kids attention! Um... no... I pass...

BTW - I thought that last one was another baby not a dog! HA HA HA ...

All A's and S's ??? Oh boy... I'm so glad I didn't jump on that train too, not that there is anything wrong with it.... but I had enough trouble picking out names with a wide range of letters let alone sticking to ONE. But I did have my whole crazy thing that I had to stick to with their names, but that's a completely different story!
