De Blob 2 Video Game Review

I live in a house with five guys, so video games come with the territory.  Over the years I have found a handful that I enjoy as well.  But only a few.  They are known as "mommy's games", but inevitably become family favorites.  A little while ago I fell in love with a game de blob that came out on Wii.  I LOVED it.  So I was more than thrilled that they were coming out with de blob 2 and I jumped at the chance when asked to review it.


One of the greatest things about de blob 2 is that it has grown larger than the Wii, being released on XBox, PS3 and Nintendo DS as well.  I opted to go with my tried and true favorite, the Wii.

What I loved about this new version is that it keeps all of the things that made the original great and then adds improvements.  I love that there is still the unique, interesting music with updates.  I love that the story line of the game is similar and not a huge change.

I love the addition of Pinky, de blob's friend.  This allows for interactive 2 person play, as opposed to the previous version that only allowed for pitting against each other in 2 player mode.  I also love the relationship with this new character and how she guides de blob as opposed to the many minor characters in the first version.

As with any new and improved version, there is a lot more depth to the play.  There are more things to color, and more patterns and music styles.  There are new elements, challenges and the like.  Surprisingly I really enjoyed them all and wasn't left with a single "oh, I miss that from the first one" feeling.

My feeling is that this is a great improvement while still paying homage to the original that made the name.  I would highly recommend it as a great family friendly game that you can play with children around. It is rated E 10+, which I understand because of some of the reasoning and motor skills involved.

This definitely gets two Momma D thumbs up!
