One on One Time (Day 3)

Day 3 of the What's Good list and I am grateful for the wonderful moments I get to spend one on one time with each of my four sons.  Last weekend Eli and I took a trek to Binghamton, about an hour and a half away from our house, to see Sesame Street Live: Elmo's Green Thumb.

Part of being a larger family is that our house is always hoppin.  There are six people doing things all of the time.  We eat dinner as a family and talk.  It is loud.  Everyone together.  A buzz in the air.

But when you take one of the four away from the others, just the two of you, it is a very special time.  You hear their little voice.  You notice their growth.  Their little things that make them them.  You get glimpses into their personalities that you sometimes miss when they are part of the collective whole.

I loved taking Eli to see Elmo and friends last week.  I loved the sparkle in his eyes and his serious approach to everything.  I enjoyed seeing his independent streak, wanting to sit in his own seat and not wanting the special seat cushion to make him higher.  And I especially loved when after the intermission he decided it would be great to sit on my lap, snuggle and to see the end of the show.

About the What's Good List

Every day for a year I am writing about something I am grateful for, something that is good in my life.  Check back to see the posts as close to daily as I can get.  And if you miss a few and want to catch up, all you will have to do is click the "What's Good List" label on the bottom of each post and they will be filtered out for you from the rest of the blog.
