Wordless Wednesday, Homemade Crayons

Nathan opened up the crayon drawer in the plastic bins we refer to as the art cart, only to find that 90% of them were broken stubs.  Not at all appealing to a Kindergartner that I already need to persuade to do homework.

I started pealing the paper on the stubs and grabbed a silcone shaped baking pan.  By the time the homework was completed I was ready with the first "batch".

I LOVE the colors!

Brand new crayons to create with.  There has been more coloring in this household in the last few days than the entire summer.  Fun and FREE!

We always have a ton of broken crayons too! I made crayons years ago with Henry and Grant...I guess I should do it again so Eli can participate:)

At what temperature did you bake the crayons? How long did they bake?

This is so cool!

Would you use the silcone for food in the future?

What a great idea! I'll have to try this some time.
